As the first signs of fall arrive in Norman, families begin settling into a different rhythm. The summer vacations have ended, school routines are back in place, football weekends bring families together, and evenings spent outside slowly give way to cooler nights around the dinner table.

Labor Day arrives each year as summer begins to wind down, football season returns, and families settle back into their routines. For many, it is one last opportunity to gather around the table, fire up the grill, and enjoy time with the people who matter most. It is also a time to reflect.

Across the country, families are gathering for Friday night lights, Saturday college rivalries, and Sunday afternoons spent cheering on their favorite teams. Every season begins with optimism because every team believes it has prepared for what lies ahead. Preparation is what gives teams confidence before they ever step onto the field.

As summer winds down, families naturally start getting organized again. Calendars come back out. Routines return. People begin thinking about the months ahead rather than just the weekend in front of them.

There is something about this season that motivates us to tackle projects we've been putting off.

If you've lived in Norman for very long, you've probably noticed things feel a little different these days.

With OU joining the SEC, our city is stepping onto a much bigger stage. Game days are bigger. The spotlight is brighter. There’s more excitement, more visitors, and a growing sense that Norman is changing right alongside the university.

Every fall, we see families settle back into familiar routines. Calendars fill up, school supplies appear, and there is a renewed focus on growth, responsibility, and learning.

But after helping families for more than 17 years, one thing we've learned is that school never really ends.

Every August, Back to School season brings about the same thoughts.

Parents are buying school supplies, filling out forms, packing lunches, and trying to figure out how summer disappeared so quickly. There's a sense of excitement in the air, but there's also something else happening.
